Nope, This Ruby Rose Post About Love Wasn’t to Defend

Ruby Rose is quite the new romantic.

The Orange Is the New Black star took to social media earlier today to pen a lengthy note about opening yourself up to somebody after experiencing heartbreak, highlighting that while that act is hard enough in private, it’s even harder in the public eye.

“I’ve noticed something about love in the public eye verses anyone else’s love life. My parents never married and so I never dealt with a divorce, but I do remember how many of my friends were effected by this later in life. I couldn’t relate but I tried to understand why it was hard on them,” Rose wrote in a note published on Instagram.

“After 20 years and beautiful kids they have grown apart and want to do different things..Seems reasonable…The only way they got over it was by realizing their parents were humans just like them. This in turn started the process of wanting them to move on, be happy and loved..as life is short.

“If you think about an ex you had a great time with but it came to an amicable end, you can understand sometimes it’s just what happens. Or perhaps a partner who died too young. I believe that you were meant to spend that time with that person, no one can take that away…It isn’t always meant to last forever. Sometimes they end up being a big part of your life for 2 years, others they end up being your best friend.”

Rose continued the thought in her caption, noting that people shouldn’t shame stars for finding a new partner, regardless of the amount of time in-between relationships. “I feel like this is the mentality fans have on celebrity relationships.. I get it that they invest in couples and root for them and it’s sweet, but that relationship is still only between two people. If the relationship ends why do people assume something happened or someone is to blame? Why do they think they know anything about the relationship to be able to make a better call than those in it?”

The blue-eyed beauty added, “Love is a beautiful thing. Some love one person their whole life, others love many, some never find love, and sadly some get so hurt so many times they get broken and stop looking. So if a woman moves on from a relationship 8 months (or 2 weeks ) after a breakup isn’t that beautiful? That someone can still continue to open their hearts to people despite times in their lives I’m sure it’s been broken..It’s not an insult to every ex they have ever had…new love never erases old love. It’s a separate thing, a new entity. You can’t change the people you loved just be glad you loved at all they are all lessons and memories and make up our life story.”

Rose, who recently began dating Harley Gusman after calling off her engagement to Phoebe Dahl in Decemeber, also said, “I personally respect all of the people who never get jaded, who always love with their whole hearts. Over and over and I think it’s twisted that we shame women for opening their hearts or label it as a weakness when in reality it’s one of the scariest things to do.

“Date who you want, love who you want, love is the most valuable thing in the world and nothing comes remotely close to its significance during our time on this planet. So next time you want to tell me who I should be with or who anyone should be with… Maybe just use that energy to find your love. Because trust me.. We are adults and we know how to follow our hearts.”

While it was clear that Rose’s statements about love could have been a personal reflection, many also wondered if the actress was coming to gal-pal Taylor Swift ‘s defense after receiving criticism for dating Tom Hiddleston shortly after her Calvin Harris breakup, however that’s not the case.

Ruby cleared the air on the speculation by tweeting, “My statement on love… It’s not about one person in particular it is about many, including myself..”
