Late Late Show With James Corden won its first Emmy Award tonight: Outstanding Interactive Program. Corden’s show also is nommed for Variety Special tomorrow night at Part 2 of the Creative Arts Award portion of the three-night dispensing of trophies, and it’s nommed for best variety series at next Sundays televised Primetime Emmy Awards.

Backstage, Corden’s producers said their dream is to get Rolling Stones to participate in “Carpool Karaoke.”

CBS scored maybe the biggest late-night-nom headline in July, for Corden’s show, which grabbed a lot of attention this season with “Carpool Karaoke” segments featuring the likes of Adele, George Clooney and First Lady Michelle Obama. “We were desperate to succeed and make an impact, but we didn’t expect anything like this,” Late Late Show EP Ben Winston had said on noms morning of his series’ haul.

Accepting the award tonight he thanked  Corden, who was not present, and their wives for moving to the United States so they could do the show.
