Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert are divorcing after 4 years of marriage.
The country music couple confirmed their split, telling TMZ:
“This is not the future we envisioned and it is with heavy heart that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real family, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”
According to the website, the pair filed for divorce a “while ago, and a judge is expected to officially end their 4-year marriage today. “
The couple met in 2005 when they sang “You’re the Reason God Made Oklahoma” together at the CMT 100 Greatest Duets concert. Married in 2011, Shelton and Lambert have long been plagued by divorce rumors, which they tended to publicly laugh off.
In 2013, after taking home four awards at the Academy of Country Music Awards, Lambert addressed rumors their marriage was in trouble, telling reporters, “Like I always say, my mom said to my dad, ‘Divorce is not an option.'” The Huffington Post reached out to Lambert’s rep, who was not immediately available for comment.
