If you were in Los Angeles this weekend, chances are the beach was one of your top destinations.
Despite being the middle of March, temperatures reached above 90 degrees leaving celebrities flocking to the coast for some much needed relief.
While we totally expected to see a few stars in their bathing suits, we didn’t exactly predict Kate Hudson would be soaking up the sun with the one and only Chris Martin.
Photographers spotted the friends lounging by the beach Saturday afternoon as their respective children played in the water. The Coldplay frontman also did a bit of surfing while Hudson got her feet wet near the shore.
Before any rumors start of a possible romance, however, it appears these two friends were just beating the heat together. Yes, there’s really nothing scandalous here.
More friendly celebrity exes
Both parties have homes near the beach community and Hudson has even voiced her love for Martin’s ex, Gwyneth Paltrow.
“I look up to Gwyneth and how she has been in her life,” she told Harper’s Bazaar in 2012. “She’s the real deal.”
And when she traveled to London, it was the Goop founder that helped Hudson get acclimated to the new area. “She’s been my go-to about where to get things done,” she shared. “Grocery shopping, a good mani-pedi, you know, all that.”
Besides, Paltrow may have wanted to attend Saturday’s beach day. Instead, she was helping raise millions in Hong Kong at the amfAR Gala. Pretty good excuse if you ask us.
