UPDATE: The autopsy for Caleb Loan has been completed, but the cause of death is pending, the medical examiner’s office confirms to E! News. But a source tells us that there is a family history of the heart condition called cardiomyopathy.

“It appears it runs pretty deep,” the insider says.

At the time of his death, Caleb hadn’t been diagnosed with any medical condition.

Caleb Logan died at the young age of 13, and since his family’s announcement people have wondered how such a young boy could die of “natural causes.”

Because of all the inquiries, authorities announced Monday that Caleb suffered an “unknown medical emergency” and confirmed there was no foul play. As a result, there won’t be a police investigation. Late Monday night, however, Caleb’s parents revealed what really happened to the young YouTube star.

“Caleb’s death has raised many questions about how and why this could happen to a seemingly healthy boy. Sadly, tests have confirmed today that Caleb passed away from an undetected medical condition,” they captioned the announcement of their son’s memorial.

“We’ll have more definitive answers in the coming weeks but ask that you help us celebrate his life instead of focus on his death. Due to an outpouring of support and people’s hope to be part of his memorial, we have decided to live-stream the ceremony tomorrow at 8pm EDT…Thank you for all your kindness during this difficult time.”

In honor of their son’s passing, the Bratayleys posted a video of Caleb that was made one day before he died.

“In addition to our desire to give the Internet community the chance to begin the grieving process, we also wanted to post this video to show a healthy and happy Caleb doing what he loved,” the family wrote on YouTube. “Thank you for all the love and support that everyone has shown our family. And we ask for continued love and support as we move through the grieving process.”

The Bratayleys first launched their YouTube page in 2010 and have since amassed more than 1 billion views, per Variety. Their most popular episode pulled in more than 22 million views.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time.
