CryWorks, the startup virtual-reality company founded by Euan Macdonald, Hans Uhlig and Kymber Lim, has changed its name to Holor Media. Now composed of Holor Studios, Holor Labs and the upcoming Holor.tv, it will focus on producing and distributing next-gen content while continuing to invent tools for VR/media creators.

“Holor Media is bringing fans, creators and brands together in a way that’s never been done before,” Macdonald said. “As our technology evolves into next year, we will offer the first fully integrated platform for the creation and distribution of VR content — from the hardware to create great experiences to the platform to share it.”

In addition to creating content for global brands, Holor Studios is helping to shape the way people interact and share 360/VR experiences. The studio recently got unprecedented behind-the-scenes access on the set of Transformers 5 with director Michael Bay.

The company also said that Holor Labs in the coming months will bring state-of-the-art technology to market for pro and amateur creators that will make 360/VR much easier to create, share and view.

“There is a significant gap between the promise of 360/VR content creation, mass adoption and the technology that currently exists in the marketplace and in the labs,” said Hans Uhlig co-founder of Holor Media. “Holor Labs is at the forefront of closing this gap and enabling the news and entertainment platform of the future.”
