Viewers of ITV’s ‘This Morning’ were surprised and a bit taken aback by Victoria Beckham’s admission that her young daughter Harper already wears heels, and can do so “better than most adults”.
The 42 year old fashion designer and Spice Girl was talking exclusively about her new ranges at New York Fashion Week and her collaboration with Estee Lauder, but it was the subject of her five year old daughter that caused a commotion on Twitter on Thursday morning (September 15th).
“Harper loves beauty, she loves it,” she said in a pre-recorded interview. “I’m very close with all of the children but the great thing about Harper being a little girl, she loves to play with make-up, and that’s really great mother and daughter time.”
“She’s very very girly – she also loves to run around in the garden with her brothers and play football but she’s very very feminine and she loves playing with make-up. And my clothes as well! She been in… platforms for a few years right now. She can wear heels like most grown-ups cannot.”

The mother of four, who also has sons Brooklyn, 17, Romeo, 14, and Cruz, 11, quickly came in for some criticism from people concerned that her daughter was growing up too fast and should be allowed a normal childhood.
“Seeing Victoria Beckham on #thismorning saying Harper can wear heels better than most adults can just really creeps me out tbh,” one viewer tweeted, with another agreeing “children shouldn’t be little grown-ups. They should be children. Parents shouldn’t encourage them to grow up faster.”
Beckham, who is not taking part in the much-talked about Spice Girls reunion, also addressed those who keeps saying she looks miserable all the time. “I actually do smile quite a lot – I know that does shock people! I feel very happy, lucky and blessed.”
