Vice President Joe Biden is set to travel to Hollywood this weekend in order to formally introduce Lady GaGa to the stage during Sunday’s Oscars ceremony, according to the L.A. Times.
Citing to a White House spokesperson, the outgoing VP Biden is to be a special presenter at the big night, and will be introducing Gaga’s live performance of ‘’Til It Happens To You’, the Oscar-nominated song she released last year from Kirby Dick’s documentary movie The Hunting Ground, about campus sexual assault.

73 year old Biden has been a prominent advocate of the White House’s campaign to raise awareness of the issue, called ‘It’s On Us’, aimed at battling assaults and rape on college campuses nationwide. It’s said that he’ll be directly campaigning to the Oscars’ audience as he prefaces the performance.
Biden was also the primary mover behind the 1994 legislation Violence Against Women Act while in the Senate, so has personal interest in Gaga’s campaign.

Back in the autumn, Biden met with the song’s co-writer, Diane Warren, and other Hollywood activists in order to discuss promoting the campaign, which asks students to take a pledge to actively intervene if they witness sexual assault happening on campuses instead of merely being bystanders.
The music video for ‘’Til It Happens To You’, which is nominated for Best Original Song at the Oscars, includes a link to the site ItsOnUs.org.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, co-writer Warren was sanguine about her chances of actually winning the Oscar, in the category in which she’s been nominated eight times in the past (including for Celine Dion’s ‘Because You Loved Me’, LeAnn Rimes’ ‘How Do I Live’ and Aerosmith’s ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’, since you ask).
“Grammys are great, but there are like a million Grammy song nominations,” she said, “and then there’s only one Oscar song nomination. That’s pretty awesome.”
