EXCLUSIVE: Keith Maitland, whose animated documentary film Tower made the Oscar shortlist, has signed with Verve and Writ Large for representation.
Executive produced by Meredith Vieira and Luke Wilson, the pic reveals the emotional untold stories of the witnesses, heroes and survivors of America’s first mass school shooting at the University of Texas, Austin in 1966. It combines archival footage with rotoscope animation in order to provide a virtually moment-by-moment recap of what happened that fateful day, through the eyes of the survivors.
The film premiered at SXSW this year and won the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award for best documentary feature.
Prior to Tower, Maitland directed the Emmy-nominated doc The Eyes Of Me, a year-in-the-life of four blind teens. He recently signed on with Killer Films to write and direct Enemies Within, an investigative thriller that looks critically at the secret spy ring created within the NYPD after 9/11. The film was adapted from a book of the same name by Pulitzer winners Adam Goldman and Matt Appuzzo.
