Taylor Swift Battles the Elements in ”Out of the

You know, we thought the Years of Taylor Swift (2014, 2015) were behind us, but the girl just went and proved 2016 is about to be hers, too, and we definitely aren’t complaining!

After teasing it earlier this week, the 26-year-old country-turned-pop star debuted her “Out of the Woods” music video during ABC’s Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, and it’s exactly the way we hoped to kick off this new year.

The enchanting video begins with T.Swift in a gorgeous blue dress standing on the sand by the ocean, when all of a sudden she’s taken into the woods and running from hungry wolves chasing her. After barely escaping their attack, she ends up at the snow (it’s a music video, guys, what do you expect?), and then boom, more wolves.

Seriously, Taylor battled all of the elements—wind, fire, rain, you name it. Until finally, a different version of herself meets up with the girl standing by the ocean, and that’s when we’re hit with the inspirational Swifty message we needed, “She lost him, but she found herself. And somehow that was everything.”

The song is a collaboration with Jack Antonoff from fun., and though she’s never confirmed the speculation, it’s rumored to be about her One Direction ex, Harry Styles.

Swift explained her writing process during an interview with Grammy Pro: “It just kind of conjured up all these feelings of anxiety I had in a relationship where everybody was watching, everybody was commenting on it. You’re constantly just feeling like, ‘Are we out of the woods yet? What’s the next thing gonna be? What’s the next hurdle we’re gonna have to jump over? Are we gonna make it to next week?'”

She continued, “It was interesting to write about a relationship where you’re just honestly like, ‘This is probably not gonna last, but how long is it gonna last?’ Those fragile relationships…It doesn’t mean they’re not supposed to happen. The whole time we were having happy memories or crazy memories or ridiculously anxious times, in my head it was just like, ‘Are we OK yet? Are we there yet? Are we out of this yet?'”

Meanwhile, this is will be the sixth video released from Swift’s 1989 album. Her video for “Bad Blood”— filled with all her supermodel BFFs—broke records with 20.1 million views in just 24 hours. She held that title for several month until Adele‘s “Hello” topped hers at 27.7 million.

Perhaps “Out of the Woods” will take the crown back!
