Stephen Curry, Blake Griffin, Shaquille O’Neal and More

NBA players are used to talking trash on the court—but Twitter is another matter entirely. In honor of the NBA Finals, Jimmy Kimmel invited players past and present to read “Mean Tweets” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Thursday. The hilarious recurring segment featured Jalen Rose, Klay Thompson, Blake Griffin, Andre Iguodala, Russell Westbrook, Reggie Miller, Doc Rivers, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O’Neal, Stephen Curry, DeAndre Jordan and Dikembe Mutombo.

Some smiled. Some scowled. Some—like Curry, Griffin, Johnson, Jordan and Miller—participated in last year’s segment. All were good sports, considering how cruel people were on social media.

“Have you ever been downloading something online and halfway through it just froze and couldn’t go anywhere? Think Steph Curry’s puberty,” the 28-year-old Golden State Warriors point guard (and reigning MVP) read. Rose, who played for six NBA teams between 1994 and 2007, is now an analyst and ESPN host. “I still have no idea how Jalen Rose has a job,” he read, quoting a Twitter user he’s never met. “He looks like he sells bootleg DVDs at the barbershop.”

“Does anyone know what Blake Griffin is?” the 6-foot-10 L.A. Clippers power forward read. “Did Morgan Freeman and Carrot Top impregnate an Amazon or what happened?” Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Westbrook isn’t a big Star Wars fan, as he got confused when someone said he resembles Jar Jar Binks. “I don’t know who that is, but I’ll take your word for it,” he said.
