In a strongly worded monologue, Stephen Colbert kicked off his live post-debate Late Show, addressing the jaw-dropping moment of the final presidential debate when moderator Chris Wallace asked Trump if he will accept the results of the election on November 8.

Trump had responded: “I will tell you at the time,” adding, “I will keep you in suspense.” Trump has been blasting the election as rigged for some time.

“Oh! Suspense! Democracy is going to end with a cliffhanger!” Colbert scoffed.  “I guess we’re all going to have to wait until November 9 to see if we still have a democracy – to see if Donald Trump is in the mood for a peaceful transfer of power, or if he’s going to wipe his fat ass with the Constitution.”

Colbert pounded on Trump in his show opening, saying, among other things, he was surprised the GOP candidate agreed to debate in Las Vegas, and at the University of Nevada, given his lack of success with casinos and universities.

Late Show’s first guest, Hugh Laurie, joined in the clubbing, saying of Trump. “He’s unspeakable…really an astounding character.”

Noting the British actor played a doctor on Fox’s House and now plays a neuropsychiatrist on his new HULU series, Colbert asked him to diagnose the two candidates.

“It may be too late, but with Donald Trump I would suggest breast feeding,” Laurie offered. Colbert’s audience loved it.

As to Clinton, Laurie confessed he was puzzled by people in this country who hate her so much. “I feel as if I missed the first reel of the film, where she burned down the orphanage,” he confessed. “She seems fine to me.”
