The Undateable duo of creator/executive producer Adam Sztykiel and executive producer Bill Lawrence are back at NBC with another comedy project, Spaced Out. In a highly competitive situation with multiple networks bidding, NBC has landed the workplace comedy with a pilot production commitment. Spaced Out is produced by Warner Bros. TV and Lawrence’s studio-based Doozer.

Sztykiel will write the single-camera workplace comedy, which is set in the world of commercial space travel. Sztykiel executive produces with Doozer’s Lawrence and Jeff Ingold.

This is the third consecutive collaboration between Sztykiel, Doozer/WBTV and NBC, following the multi-camera comedy series Undateable, which ran for three seasons, the last of which aired live, and a multi-cam pilot starring stand-up comedian Vladimir Caamaño last year.

This marks a return to the single-camera workplace space for Scrubs creator Lawrence who also co-created Spin City and Cougar Town. He is repped by ICM Partners.

Sztykiel, whose feature credits include Due Date and Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip, is repped by UTA and Kaplan/Perrone.

Space has been a hot comedy arena lately. Fox has 13-episode straight-to-series comedic drama series created by and starring Seth MacFarlane, which is set aboard a space ship.
