Salma Hayek Claims Hollywood Studios “Don’t Want” Her

Salma Hayek, in a recent interview, claimed Hollywood studios are no longer interested in her working for them. Fortunately, the Frida actress’ career is not suffering so she’s not too worried about what she perceives as Hollywood’s apparent lack of interest.

“I think they don’t want me but I don’t really care,” Hayek said, as AP reports.

As for what she’s been doing with her time, now she and Hollywood have fallen out of love, Hayek explained how she continues to be busy with charity work and working on films elsewhere. Hayek further claimed this was the reason for her absence from many of Hollywood’s glitterati events.

“I’ve been getting awards from different places for the humanitarian work and I’ve had a lot of movies come out,” Hayek continued. “Then there is my husband (Francois-Henri Pinault) also who takes me to many places. There’s that stuff too and I’ve just been busy with life.”

The actress was speaking at a screening of her latest film, Kahlil Kahran’s The Prophet, in Los Angeles on Tuesday (4th August).

Hayek’s voice features in the animated film and she also has a producer’s credit. The Prophet is based on the Lebanese poet Kahlil Kahran’s book of prose poetry of the same name, published in 1923. The film follows an exiled poet, his daughter and his housekeeper as they attempt to evade the authorities who want to prevent the poet from speaking the truth. Hayek stars alongside Liam Neeson, John Krasinski and Quvenzhané Wallis. Kahlil Kahran’s The Prophet is out in the U.S. cinemas from Friday (7th August).

In other Hayek news, the 48-year-old actress once again blasted Donald Trump for his policy on immigration. Appearing on Good Morning America on Wednesday (5th August), Hayek again criticised the business tycoon, who is running as a candidate for the President of the United States in the 2016 election.

“Immigrants are an important force of work in the United States,” Mexican born Hayek said, as PageSix reports. “Anybody who is informed knows this.”
