Ryan Reynolds And ‘Deadpool’ Wow Comic Con As First

Ryan Reynolds was greeted with a huge ovation as he took to the stage at Hall H for the Deadpool Comic Con panel, which ended up being one of the highlights of an already very newsworthy convention. During the panel the actor debuted the film’s first trailer to the enthusiastic crowd, who showed their support for Reynolds and the movie, which has been his passion project for years.

Ryan Reynolds as DeadpoolRyan Reynolds stars as Deadpool in the upcoming superhero movie.

The trailer was everything fans could have hoped for, with action scenes, swearing, a bit of sex and of course lots and lots of humour. There was also a very welcome reference to the character’s first big screen outing in X-Men Origins: Wolverine when the voiceover said, “From the studio that inexplicably sewed his f–king mouth shut the first time…”

After the trailer’s debut Reynolds and director Tim Miller received a long standing ovation from the crowd who chanted, ‘One more time!’ causing the stunned looking pair to high five each other before taking their seats. Also onstage were Reynolds’ co-stars, Gia Carano, T.J. Miller, Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand and Ed Skrein.

“Looks like it’s time to make the f–king chimichangas,” Reynolds said before doing his movie trailer voice from the intro video. “I do it all the time. It drives my wife nuts,” he joked before finally reverting back to his real voice.

Much like Deadpool Reynolds wasn’t shy about poking fun at himself, with his previous superhero outing The Green Lantern coming under fire the most. “I’ve only done one full, proper—sorry, not proper, superhero movie,” Ryan joked to the crowd.

“For one I think it’s an absolute miracle that a studio let us make Deadpool let alone a Rated-R ‘Deadpool,‘” the actor said. “(It’s) the most faithful adaptation of a comic book to a movie I’ve ever seen.” Deadpool is set to swing in to cinemas on February 12th 2016 and the film’s first full trailer is expect online sometime this week.

Later on in the evening Reynolds took to the Comic Con stage again, this time to stand with Fox’s other Marvel characters, The X-Men and Fantastic Four for a huge photo op, finally securing Deadpool’s rightful place in the big screen superhero family.
