Russell Brand Calls The Queen A Nazi, And Predictably Gets In

Russell Brand has been doing what he does best – courting controversy. This time, he has attracted an outcry following a condemnation of the Queen after a picture emerged at the weekend of her seeming to give a Nazi salute as a child.

40 year old Brand reacted to The Sun’s photograph on Saturday with a post on his Facebook page, quoting an excerpt from his book ‘Revolution’ in an apparent attempt to promote it following the leak, which referred to the British monarch as “Mrs Bratwurst-Kraut-Nazi” at the “top of a class pyramid”.

“We should be calling her Mrs Windsor. In fact that’s not even her real name, they changed it in the war to distract us from the inconvenient fact that they were as German as the enemy that teenage boys were being encouraged, conscripted actually, to die fighting. Her actual name is Mrs Saxe-Coburg-Gotha,” the furious tirade read.

“Mrs Saxe-Coburg-Gotha! No wonder they f****** changed it. It’s the most German thing I’ve ever heard – she might’ve well as been called Mrs Bratwurst-Kraut-Nazi.”

This was enough to provoke a scathing reaction from his 3.4 million Facebook followers, most of whom called Brand’s rant hypocritical on the basis that he himself is a multi-millionaire, as well as displaying a “racist” attitude towards Germans.

One, making reference to his ‘Sachsgate’ radio show scandal alongside Jonathan Ross, wrote: “You’ve done enough in your past that is beyond acceptable and explainable, while you were an accountable adult. Stop talking rubbish and getting your facts wrong. You’re making a fool of yourself!”

I mean in England we have a Queen for fuck’s sake. A Queen! We have to call her things like “Your Majesty” YOUR MAJESTY!…

Another, posting a picture of Brand meeting the Queen back in 2007 after the Royal Variety Performance, wrote: “So… tell you what… I dare you to say all this to her face the next time you bow and shake her hand with that plum puddin grin you had all over your face. [sic]”

Brand sparked outrage only three weeks ago when he criticised the decision to hold a minute’s silence following the massacre of dozens of British holidaymakers in Tunisia in June. A few days before that, Fifi Geldof called him out for making insensitive jokes about drugs.
