The Australian star was one of the cast members who received an intensive comic book workout with a superfan as she started working on her character before 2011’s X-Men: First Class.
“An X-Men expert came to the set to talk to each of us about our characters,” Rose tells Playboy magazine. “It was phenomenal. He was the ultimate X-Men geek. He had massive folders about each character.
“He came into my trailer and talked me through Moira’s backstory and the evolution of her character. He was brilliant.”
But the actress admits she ended up with a little too much information.
“As an actor it’s always great to get as much information as you can. My character went to another planet for a while and came back and had a son who was half-human and half-mutant. Then she died and came back to life.
“There’s a lot of context.”
And Rose admits even she finds it odd that her character, Moira MACTaggert, doesn’t seem to age from First Class to the new X-Men movie Apocalypse, even though the films are set two decades apart.
She tells the publication, “Twenty years have passed and, yeah, she looks pretty good. Everyone joked about it on set. Does time not apply to these characters?
“The mutants (in the film) can probably get away with not ageing, but I’m mortal. Moira might have a good plastic surgeon.”
And if she ever met her character’s nip and tuck expert, Rose might ask for an ear job, joking, “I have remarkably small ears. It’s almost a mutation how small they are. They look slightly weird.”
