Rihanna Paints Gigi Hadid’s Hair White at NYFW—Will This

It’s official—Rihanna‘s style is just too hot—err, we mean—cold.

The singer took to the NYFW runway to present her Fenty x Puma by Rihanna fall 2016 collection on Friday. And the looks, especially the beauty aspects, had major chill factor.

“Rihanna had a very strong idea; she was like, ‘I just want to see white. I want it to feel like frozen,” Yusef Williams, the show’s head hairstylist, told E! News.

Hair was slicked back and painted with a white, translucent coat, as if the models, including sisters Bella and Gigi Hadid, had popped just the top of their heads out into the wintry abyss, only to be overcome by a snowstorm. Remember the frosted tips trend? This may be its modern iteration.

It’s supposed to feel like this Arctic urban forest,” he added. “We want [the models] to feel like a freeze happens as they walk out to the runway.”

Also the “Work” singer’s personal hairstylist, Yusef closely collaborated with the star about every detail of the show’s hair looks.

“We talked about so many ideas: It went from should we do a middle part, should it be straight, should it be black, should it be this, and we came up with this cool thing, which, at the end of the day, I think is going to be amazing,” he said.

Definitely a statement, the frosted hair, paired with dark, almost-black lips and even white shadow, liner or under-eye patches for some models, took attention from the mostly black and white collection. Some models, however, were saved a shampoo session and wore beanies or hoods.

RiRi on the other hand? The star looked as cool and collected as ever, in a simple yet sleek, black bob, which, of course, was done by Yusef.

“The hair of the week!” Yusef noted. “She loves it. She loves it. She loves everything I do!”
