President Barack Obama Helps Jerry Seinfeld Kick-Off Season 7

Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee just got political (but don’t worry, it’s still entertaining).

The season seven premiere for Jerry Seinfeld‘s famous web series “about nothing” kicked off tonight, and it featured one very “are-you-kidding-me-super-special-guest”—President Barack Obama! Now, we know what you’re thinking. This is a show about comedians in cars getting coffee, not presidents.

But, Seinfeld says Obama “has gotten off enough funny lines to be qualified for this show.” Plus, technically, Seinfeld is still part of this adventure, and he’s a comedian, so stop making everything so difficult.

Arriving in a classic 1963 Corvette Stingray Split Window Coupe to pick up the prez, Seinfeld walked up to the Oval Office to greet the Commander in Chief, and munch on an apple while he waited. Once they were ready to head out, the pair got into the ‘vette, and proceeded to drive away.

Unfortunately, they didn’t make it very far until security said they can’t leave the premises. Oops, #PresidentialProblems.

So, the two decided to do a little joy ride at the White House and began chatting about various things. For instance, Obama shared, “I do really well with the 0-8 demographic. They love me. Probably because my ears are big,” and explains that young kids seem to like him because he resembles a cartoon character.

They then decided to check out one of POTUS’ vehicles, which was obviously super-cool and full of exclusive gadgets. This is when Obama shared the one thing he wishes he could do, but can’t. “I would love to just be taking a walk and then I run into you. You’re sitting on a bench. And suddenly I say, ‘Hey Jerry, how ya doin?,'” he confesses. “That moment when you lost your anonymity. And anonymity is not something you think about as being valuable.”

Seinfeld and Obama got out of the car, and decided to finally get some coffee inside (after POTUS took a swig of gin, because life).

Stars Meet the President

As the comedian prepares of a fresh pot of brew, the president admits that while the parades and inaugural speech and all that jazz are definitely overwhelming, the scariest part of it all is going to the White House and spending the first night there. “So you’re looking around and thinking, what the hell is this?” he said of the historic monument.

Obama also shares that he’s obsessed with nachos, he does curse, politics is like football, and, of course, promotes Obamacare.

Before the duo parted ways, the Leader of the Free World made on of his childhood dreams come true by getting behind the wheel of the Stingray. The pair made another attempt to pass the gate, but security wasn’t having it, still.

“I knew that wouldn’t work,” Obama told Seinfeld, who responded, “You didn’t’ sell it.”
