Piers Morgan Departs CNN After Turning Down Two-Year Contract

He unsuccessfully tried to fill the void left by Larry King, and now Piers Morgan is completely finished at the CNN organization.

The former “Piers Morgan Live” host had his show pulled off the air in February, telling press,

“I’d like to do work — interviews with big celebrities and powerful people — that is better suited to what I do well and fit with what [CNN president] Jeff [Zucker] is trying to do with the network.”

And earlier today, Morgan, a fierce anti-gun activist, confirmed that though Zucker had offered him a two-year deal, he decided to walk after all.

Piers tweeted, “BREAKING NEWS: I am no longer a @CNN employee… I was offered a new 2-year deal by @CNN boss Jeff Zucker to host 40 big interview ‘specials’… But after considerable thought, I decided not to accept it – and to try pastures new… I had a fantastic time in my 4 years @CNN and have huge respect for Jeff & all the people who work there. Great company, great network… I wouldn’t crack the champagne open too quickly though, @NRA – I haven’t finished with you lot yet.”
