We can count at least 50 reasons, one per shade, why Melanie Griffith might want to not see daughter Dakota Johnson‘s next movie.
But the 57-year-old mother of three, who has had her own share of super-sexy roles over the years, gave a perfectly good explanation herself as to why she won’t be watching Fifty Shades of Grey. Either that, or she’s going to walk out during the first hour.
“I read all the books,” Griffith told Extra earlier this month in an interview just posted today, “before I knew she was doing the movie…I really loved the books. I think everybody loved the books and everybody read them even though a lot of people will say that they didn’t read them. But I think that I’m never going to see the movie myself. I don’t think Don [her ex and Dakota’s dad Don Johnson] will ever see the movie.
All the reasons why Dakota Johnson’s parents should avoid Fifty Shades of Grey
“It would just be too awkward,” Griffith admitted, smiling. “She, I think, would be mortified if we ever came to see her movie. She said, ‘You can see it up until I lose my virginity and that’s it.'”
OK, even we’re starting to get a little embarrassed…
Besides, Johnson had already told her parents, as quoted by her mom, “You guys can’t come. There’s no way.”
Extra‘s Mario Lopez also quizzed Griffith about her social life and whether she’s met anyone interesting since she and husband Antonio Banderas split up this year after 18 years of marriage.
“I’m just kind of laying low,” she said, smiling. Asked what kind of man she’d like to be set up with, if she would allow Lopez to play Cupid, Griffith said, “I think I’d like to meet a cowboy, like a real man-man…Like somebody who’s a man that’s not concerned with this town.”
OK, Mario, you have your marching orders—one rugged non-actor, coming right up!
