Picking up The Voice’s second consecutive (and third overall) Emmy for best reality competition series, EP Mark Burnett announced, “Hillary Clinton called me in the last few minutes and said to personally thank Jimmy Kimmel for an extra free five minutes of ABC publicity for Donald Trump. Thanks, Jimmy.”

Burnett, whose NBC reality series The Apprentice is credited with launching Donald Trump’s political career, thanked NBC for ordering his singing competition series, and the army of producers standing behind him who, he said, really deserve the credit. Burnett plugged the show’s return tomorrow night with new celebrity mentors Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keyes, aka “Your next Supreme Court justices,” Burnett snarked.

During his opening monologue, Kimmel told viewers Burnett is the man to blame, for bringing us NBC’s reality series The Apprentice and starting Trump on his road to the White House. “Thank you for coming from England to tear us all apart with your intricate plot, you sneaky little crumpet muncher,” Kimmel said pointedly. He asked Burnett if Miley Cyrus or CeeLo Green will be our next Supreme Court justice – Burnett also being EP of NBC’s reality competition series The Voice.

“If Trump is elected and he builds the wall the first person we’re throwing over it is Mark Burnett,” Kimmel promised.

Last Year The Voice upset CBS’s 10-time winner The Amazing Race – a feat Bravo’s Top Chef pulled off in 2010.

This year,  the category nominees included NBC’s American Ninja Warrior, ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, Lifetime’s Project Runway, CBS’ The Amazing Race, and Bravo’s Top Chef.
