Not every breakup has a bitter end.
Case in point: Mandy Moore and Wilmer Valderrama, who dated from 2000 to 2002. After hanging out at Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights last fall, the exes had a surprise run-in Wednesday on the Paramount Studios lot in L.A. Moore, 32, and Valderrama, 36, made sure to document their happy reunion on Instagram (and plug each other’s TV shows, of course).
Moore, who stars in the new NBC series This Is Us, premiering Sept. 20, shared a photo and wrote, “Sometimes you get to work on the same lot as your friends and you can run over, catch up and watch them continue to be a bad-ass (in real life and on TV). Love this guy. Friends for over 16 years. Congrats on @ncis.cbs, @wilmervalderrama! Can’t wait to watch you this Fall!!”
Moments later, Valderrama—who joins the cast of CBS’ NCIS starting Sept. 20—shared another shot with Moore. “A Paramount Studios moment.. When one of the most special people just so happens to be shooting her show @nbcthisisus at the same lot you’re shooting @ncis_cbs.. Love you Mandela!” he wrote. Valderrama later edited his Instagram caption, writing, “Ps. Word in the street is she ROCKS the screen on her show!… Can’t wait for the world to see the talent you are. Like you said, 16 years and another 16 to go.. And then another 16 after that.. Plus maybe 16 more to add to those last 16.. Ummm let’s throw another 16?… After all those?”
It took years for Valderrama’s That ’70s Show co-stars Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher to get together, and based on the Instagram comments, fans hope he’ll get back together with Moore.
But let’s not put the cart before the horse.
In early June, Valderrama split with pop star Demi Lovato, his girlfriend of nearly six years. A little over a month later, the actor told E! News he was happy to be back on set. “[I’m] good, very good,” he revealed. “It’s been a great summer for work. I’ve done some incredible things.”
“It’s going to be super exciting and fun to join that ongoing train of goodness,” Valderrama said of joining NCIS‘ cast. “So many people love the show. I’m proud to be creating a new character.”
“This year has become a really interesting journey already,” he added, noting that he’d filmed several movies to be released in 2016 and 2017. “So far this year has been explosive and fun.”
It’s been a busy summer for Moore, too. In June, she officially divorced Ryan Adams, her husband of six years. Neither party is receiving spousal support. However, the singer-actress kept their Griffith Park home, their Beverly Hills condo and a 2012 Prius. Adams kept his comic book collection, some arcade games, a 2008 Porsche Carrera and a 1959 Cadillac. Moore and Adams are retaining their respective publishing rights for music created during their marriage.
