‘Malcolm in the Middle’ star Frankie Muniz recovering

EW has confirmed that 26-year-old Frankie Muniz — best known as the title character in the ’00s sitcom Malcolm in the Middle — is recovering after a serious medical episode last week. The former child star broke the news of his condition on Twitter: “I was in the hospital last Friday,” Muniz explained today. “I suffered a “Mini Stroke”, which was not fun at all. Have to start taking care of my body! Getting old!”

According to the Mayo Clinic, a “ministroke,” or transient ischemic attack (TIA), causes symptoms similar to those of a regular stroke — difficulty speaking or writing, confusion, weakness or numbness on one side of the body — but does not cause permanent brain damage or disability.

Muniz was last seen onscreen doing a guest spot on ABC’s Don’t Trust the B– in Apt. 23. He will appear next year in a TV movie called Destruction: Las Vegas.
