Madonna Calls Claims She Was Drunk Or High On Stage

Madonna has hit back at claims she was drunk during an intimate show in Melbourne titled ‘Tears of a Clown’ last week. According to reports, Madonna was drinking cocktails on stage during the show and dedicated song ‘Intervention’ to her son Rocco, who she is currently fighting for custody of.

On Instagram, Madonna shared a post from a fan which read: ‘The latest media onslaught against Madonna is that she’s taken to being drunk on stage, which anyone who knows anything about her knows this is absolutely ridiculous’.

‘And these sort of accusations are nothing short of misogynistic attempt to undermine a highly accomplished woman’s value.’ Responding to the fan’s comments, the singer wrote, ‘Thanks for supporting me.’

‘Too bad people don’t know the art of acting and playing a character. I could never do any of my shows high or drunk. And yes underlying all of this is sexism and misogyny which proves that not only do we not get equal pay but we are still treated like heretics if we step out of line and think outside the box! . Sexism is alive and kicking but i am’.

After the show last week, a rep for Madonna slammed reports she was drinking on stage saying: ‘She was not drunk, and as promised; Madonna had one cosmo on stage. Nothing more. Nothing less.’

The 57-year-old is currently embroiled in a custody battle with her former husband Guy Ritchie, over their 15-year-old son Rocco. During the show she told the audience: “Everybody knows the saga of me and my son Rocco. It’s not a fun story to tell or think about,” (via The Guardian).

“I probably would have enjoyed myself a bit more on this tour if he hadn’t disappeared so suddenly. I’m going to dedicate this song to him.” Madonna then played ‘Intervention’, a track from her the 2003 album American Life, as photos of Rocco were projected on the screen.
