As Lamar Odom continues to fight for his life, his friends and former teammates are praying for him.

The former Los Angeles Lakers star suffered a drug overdose at a Nevada brothel on Oct. 13 and was taken to a hospital, where he is currently in a coma and in critical condition. Accompanied by several family members, Odom’s estranged wife, Khloé Kardashian, flocked to his bedside and also flew in his father, his two children and their mother.

Many of the basketball player’s friends have also visited him at the medical center, including Kobe Bryant, 37, and Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak.

Lakers Nick Young and Metta World Peace, the latter of whom is a childhood friend of Odom’s, spoke to reporters during Media Day after a practice session in L.A. Thursday.

“Hopefully he gets well , hopefully he pulls out of this thing, and get the support that he really needs,” an emotional World Peace said. “And that’s pretty much all I really have to say.”

World Peace confirmed that his brother Daniel Artest, who also knew Odom growing up, was currently in Vegas staying at a hotel near the hospital. “We just feel like we need some people there,” he said. “I heard that Khloé’s there…Kobe visited. Kobe’s amazing, he went and left right after the game [Tuesday] to go visit Lamar and stayed with him.”

He had posted on his Instagram page throwback photos of the two, including a group pic with other Lakers.

“Get well homie #falife #miracleswillhappen,” he wrote. Khloé and Lamar met at a “Welcome to L.A.” party thrown by World Peace (back when he was Ron Artest) in 2009.

Odom played for the Lakers between 2004 and 2011. Young joined the team in 2013. He told E! News he and Odom, while they never played together, they used to live in the same apartment complex.

“Just a sad thing to see what happens to good people,” he said solemnly. Asked if Odom’s condition was a distraction for the team, he agreed, “Yeah, it’s tough. Especially being here with the Lakers, I know how they shared moments with him and been through battles…The atmosphere is pretty down. It’s sad, you know, but still we asked for everybody to pray for him and we’re going to keep on.”

The Miami Heat, whom Odom played with for one season before joining the Lakers in 2007, also honored him today during their pre-season game at American Airlines Arena. A picture of Odom was shown on the scoreboard with the message, “Lamar, Heat Nation supports you!”
