After starring in 10 films over the past four years, it may be a little while before Kristen Stewart takes on a new acting gig. Speaking to USA Today, the Twilight star said she was taking a little time off from the acting world, in order to explore a few of her other creative interests.

“I’m taking time off because I’ve been working for two years,” said Stewart. “I’m an actor and that’s my art form and because I started that so young, I’ve always felt intimidated and insufficient when I think about other forms of art I want to create.”

“I’m going to buy a live-work space in downtown LA and I’m going to make some things with my hands,” she continued. “I’m making a short film. I write all the time. I’m making a bunch of stuff. I don’t know how I’ll put it out but I’m not going to hold it so preciously close to me.”

The actress certainly has been busy over the past few years and she still has five movies scheduled for release over the next 12 months.

Her career took off in 2011, after she landed the coveted role of Bella Swan in the Twilight series. Just two years ago Stewart was named the highest-paid female actor in the world by Forbes magazine.

But the 24 year old has had her fair share of ups and downs in the press, mostly concerning her relationship with Twilight co-star and ex-boyfriend Robert Pattinson.

In 2012 it emerged the actress had been having an affair with her married Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders leading to the end of his marriage to actress Liberty Ross. Stewart and Pattinson have since ended their relationship.

Stewart’s latest offering, Camp X-Ray which sees her as a female Guantanamo Bay guard, is currently out on limited release in US theatres.
