Julia Stiles Back With Matt Damon For Next Instalment Of

Julia Stiles is set to return to the Bourne film series, reprising her role as agent Nicky Parsons in the fifth instalment of The Bourne Identity franchise, Deadline reports. Stiles appeared in the series’ first three films as the s CIA-operative-turned-ally, but didn’t return for the 2012 spin-off The Bourne Legacy.

Stiles joins star Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass, who are also returning to the franchise. The film, which is currently untitled, will see the return of Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne character after nearly a decade away. It is scheduled to hit cinemas on July 29, 2016.

Damon and director Greengrass, will also be teaming to write the film’s screenplay, along with Christopher Rouse, who worked as an editor on the second and third Bourne films. Ex Machina star Alicia Vikander has also been reported as being eyed for a role in the film, but so far her involvement has not been confirmed.

The Bourne franchise started in 2002 with the The Bourne Identity which starred Damon and Stiles along with Clive Owen and Franka Potente. The film ended up taking up over $ 214 million at the worldwide box office as well as receiving positive reviews from critics.

Two years later Damon returned with The Bourne Supremacy, which took $ 288.5 million worldwide. But the franchise’s biggest success came with The Bourne Ultimatum in 2007 which took over $ 442.8 million worldwide and won three academy awards.

In 2012’s The Bourne Legacy Damon did not appear as Jason Bourne and instead the film featured on Jeremy Renner’s character Aaron Cross. The film was less well received than the previous three Bourne films and only took $ 276 million worldwide.
