Famed daytime television Judge Judith “Judy” Sheindlin is developing a drama series at CBS, inspired by her life.

Her Honor follows the youngest judge in New York, who cuts through the chaos in Family Court, but can’t seem to maintain control of her own life outside the courtroom.

Law & Order producer and Chicago Justice showrunner Michael Chernuchin is attached to write the pilot and executive produce, along with Sheindlin, who is story co-writer and exec producer. Arnold Kopelson and Anne Kopelson also executive produce. CBS Television Studios is the studio.

Her Honor joins other projects that are gestating in the legal arena. CBS also has in development a drama series inspired by firebrand defense attorney Gloria Allred through CBS TV Studios. And Deadline first reported on a legal drama procedural based on the novel Blood Defense by author and former O.J. Simpson prosecutor Marcia Clark that has landed at NBC with a put pilot commitment.

Sheindlin’s long-running syndicated series Judge Judy is produced and distributed by CBS Television Distribution, where she has a multi-year deal through 2020.

The Sheindlin project was first reported by Variety.
