Jennifer Aniston may have just given the performance of her lifetime.

She also may walk away with another Golden Globe award in a matter of days!

But for better or worse, a lot of people are still way interested in Aniston’s love life including her past marriage to Brad Pitt.

“The fact that it still follows you around—I mean, I’m divorced. It’s gotta be painful,” reporter Lee Cowan asked the actress on CBS Sunday Morning. “I mean, I don’t like it when people bring it up. But people still do, right?”

“I don’t find it painful, though,” Aniston said. “I think it’s a narrative that follows you because it’s an interesting headline. It’s more of a media-driven topic.”

Got that, folks? Don’t believe everything you read in the tabloids. Aniston really has moved on. “Well, everybody has!” she added with a chuckle.

But for those who still can’t press forward, you’ll likely love to hear Cowan’s next question.

“You guys still talk?” he asked the 45-year-old star in regards to her relationship with Pitt today. “You friends?”

“We’ve exchanged good wishes and all that sort of stuff to each other, but not a constant thing,” Aniston replied with honesty. “I mean, do you talk to your ex-wife?”

“No,” Cowan replied. “When I have to, I do.”

Today, the Friends alumna and her fiancé Justin Theroux are on the exact same page when it comes to tabloids. No matter what rumor or straight up lie they tell, the couple knows what’s accurate and what’s not.

“We know what our truth is,” she explained. “That’s all just static.”

Instead, the twosome chose to focus on the positive events in each other’s lives like Aniston’s performance in Cake. In the film, Aniston plays a woman suffering from chronic pain. Most of her friends have disappeared just as she contemplates suicide and an addiction to painkillers.

“I really was ready to, you know, just disappear and really go into the depths of a character,” she explained on CBS. “You just act it, use your own emotions.”

Cake hits theatres across the country on Jan. 25.
