Jackie Chan‘s son was sentenced to six months in prison Friday after pleading guilty to providing a venue for drug users.

Per NBC News, 32-year-old Jaycee Chan, who was among those arrested in a Beijing drug bust this past August, was also ordered to pay a fine of approximately $ 320. He had faced a maximum penalty of three years in prison.

According to the Chinese court’s microblog (as excerpted by the New York Times), Jaycee told the judge, “I have broken the law and should be punished.” He also stated, “After I return to society, I won’t offend again, because I would disappoint my family and friends once again.”

The court showed leniency toward Jaycee because he voluntarily confessed and had no previous criminal record.

Jackie Chan served as a Goodwill Ambassador for the China Anti-Drug Committee in 2009, and while he’s yet to comment publicly on Jaycee’s sentencing, he did offer a very sincere apology after his son’s August arrest.

“First, I want to thank everyone for their support. For my son, Fang Zuming (Jaycee), to get into such trouble, I’m very angry and astonished,” he wrote. “As a public figure, I’m ashamed, as a father, I’m heartbroken, I can’t begin to describe his mother’s pain. I hope young people will take a lesson from Zuming [Jaycee] and stay away from drugs.”

“I failed to be a good father and I deserve the blame,” he added. “I will take the responsibility and apologize to public on behalf of Jaycee!”
