EXCLUSIVE: Faking It‘s Gregg Sulkin and Wizards of Waverly Place alum David Henrie have sold their series pitch Downtown Earl to AwesomenessTV. The project is in development with D2 Management attached to produce.

The project centers on Duke Ashley Earl Winthrop (Sulkin) who, after royally embarrassing the crown one last time, is shipped away. He’ll be stripped of the crown and forced to learn humility the American way by living with a working-class family in downtown Los Angeles with his chaperone, and polar opposite, MI6 agent Balt (Henrie), who is forced to document the journey via vid-log.

Selling a project based on a pitch is nothing new for Sulkin, who co-starred on Faking It for three seasons before it was canceled in May. That same month he sold a comedy pitch to MTV called F-Unemployment, which he will produce in a nonexclusive deal. On top of that, Sulkin landed lead roles in two films with the same current title: Status Update, an indie comedy from director Gabe Torres, and working-titled Status Update from director Scott Speer (this will be changed to avoid confusion). Sulkin is repped by UTA, D2 and attorney Greg Slewett.

Henrie spent four seasons on Disney’s Wizard family comedy, on which Sulkin also had a guest-starring stint. He also recurred on How I Met Your Mother, and his film credits include Grown Ups 2, Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2, and Little Boy. Henrie is repped by ICM Partners, Untitled Entertainment and Jackoway Tyerman.
