This year is really turning out to be an unlucky year for romance, isn’t it? Couples that we all thought were perfect have been split apart, relationships that we knew weren’t going to last have expired, and we can imagine all these heartbroken celebrities are dying for this cursed year to be over.
Of course, there have also been plenty of blossoming romances; Cheryl Cole and Liam Payne for example, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna, and Chloe Grace Moretz and Brooklyn Beckham. But it’s the break-ups that have, alas, gripped the headlines this year. Here’s seven of them so far:
Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid have split after 7 months
Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik: This young couple were together from November 2015 but, sadly, it’s been a short-lived adventure for them both. They’ve apparently gone their separate ways after 7 months of dating, but reports suggest it might not be over forever. Apparently, they’ve broken up before so there’s no reason this can’t be another blip, especially when you consider her recent cryptic Snapchat posts…

Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s divorce is getting messy
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard: If any relationship is over forever though, it’s these guys. It was a shock to discover that Heard had filed for divorce after just 15 months of marriage (though they had been dating since 2012), but it was a bigger shock to watch the split escalate into accusations of domestic violence and restraining orders. This is a messy break-up that we’ve definitely not heard the end of.
Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris amiably parted ways this week
Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris: Another short-lived romance, but one that we genuinely thought had a future, it has just emerged that Swift has finished with her DJ beau after – again – 15 months. However, it appears to be nothing short of amicable, and Harris has taken to Twitter to reassure fans that everything’s cool. ‘The only truth here is that a relationship came to an end and what remains is a huge amount of love and respect’, he said.
Dougie Poynter and Ellie Goulding have had an on/off relationship for 2 years
Ellie Goulding and Dougie Poynter: This one didn’t come as much of a surprise because they’ve already split and reconciled several times before during their two year thing. It seems that their busy careers have been keeping them apart, but now that Ellie’s decided to take a break from music, is there a chance they can rekindle once more?
Has Tyga been cheating on Kylie Jenner?
Kylie Jenner and Tyga: Things were messy from the off with Kylie and Tyga. If people weren’t commenting on the age gap, people were speculating over the bizarre reality that Tyga’s ex and mother of his child is now pregnant with Kylie’s brother Rob Kardashian’s child. That wasn’t the reason for their split though; reports allege that Tyga had been cheating on the reality star, and it seems the pair have already moved on with new partners.
The Osbournes good really be splitting for good this time
Sharon Osbourne and Ozzy Osbourne: Probably the most heartbreaking of all, especially to fans of MTV reality series ‘The Osbournes’. Sharon has decided to call it quits, at least for now, in her 34-year marriage to the Black Sabbath rocker, after discovering that he was apparently having an affair with an LA hair stylist. They’ve had big problems before, mainly to do with Ozzy breaking his sobriety, but something seems so permanent this time.
Billie Piper calls time on her second marriage
Billie Piper and Laurence Fox: The ‘Penny Dreadful’ actress was just 18 when she married radio presenter Chris Evans. They lasted 6 years, and in the same year they divorced, she married actor Laurence Fox and went on to have two children with him, but she has always remained close to her first husband. Apparently, this became a problem whenever Piper and Fox argued, because Evans was always there to comfort Piper. Whatever the reason for the split, Piper was granted a quickie divorce earlier this year.
