‘Foxcatcher’ Review: Pete Hammond On Steve Carell’s

Oscar contender Foxcatcher tells a gripping and true tale of an eccentric and wealthy benefactor (played by an unrecognizable but truly remarkable Steve Carell) for a team of Olympic-hopeful wrestlers, including brothers played by Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo. Watch my video review above.

The dark drama is directed by the gifted Bennett Miller (MoneyballCapote), from a script written by Dan Futterman (Oscar-nominated for writing Capote, but also behind TV’s Gracepoint and an actor and producer) and E. Max Frye (Emmy-nominated for an episode of Band Of Brothers). Producers are Miller, John Kilik and Anthony Bregman.

The film has already played at Telluride and several other film festivals before playing at the AFI Fest in Los Angeles on Thursday. It opens in theaters on Friday, distributed by Sony Pictures Classics.

Are you planning to see the film? If you’ve already seen it, let us know what you think. As for me, I’ve happily joined “Team Foxcatcher.”
