Ella Eyre struggled with body confidence until very recently.
The ‘Came Here For Love’ singer has admitted she used to feel self-conscious about her appearance, but has learned to love herself more now she is in her 20s.
The 23-year-old pop star says that because she missed the best part of her teenage years due to her rise to stardom, she is still only getting used to who she is and feeling ”comfortable” about herself.
Appearing on 4Music’s spotlight series called ‘I AM’, in association with River Island, which airs on Thursday (16.11.17), she said: ”I only started to become comfortable in my own skin really recently.
”I don’t know if that’s got to do with social media or from just being a teenager.
”I’m still 23 and feel I missed a part of my teenage years, so I am still learning about myself.
”Things like body image I feel I struggled with as a teenager and its only taken me until now to accept it and love it.”
Ella has previously spoken up about body issues and how she hopes she can inspire other young women to learn to love and respect themselves as they are.
She said: ”I’m not model-skinny like a lot of the girls in the media, but there are lots of girls who feel insecure because of what they see in the media and I want to actively inspire everyone to appreciate the way they are.”
Catch Ella’s episode this Thursday 16th November at 18:00, airing on 4Music directly after The Box Plus Network’s flagship 4Music show ‘Trending Live’.
