Sometimes working with a major Hollywood star can be a daunting experience, not least because they may not be the person they seem on TV. But for Edgar Ramirez, he didn’t have a bad word to say about his ‘Gold’ co-star Matthew Mcconaughey, who he repeatedly describes as ‘generous’.
Edgar Ramirez thinks Matthew McConaughey is very generous
There’s not a lot to dislike about McConaughey; off-screen he’s always come across as meek and polite, and his commitment to his work has always been shown visibly in his various drastic transformations over the years – most recently with ‘Gold’ in which he gained 45 pounds to play businessman Kenny Wells. To work with him, then, was even better than Ramirez could have imagined.
‘Matthew’s the best partner you can ever have in a movie’, he said. ‘He’s the best colleague, it’s incredible how generous he is, he’s the best partner you can wish for. He’s been so generous and open and comitted and he is by far one of the most generous men I have ever met, not only in my career but in general in my life. He’s a very generous person, and very open and very giving and always up for the challenge to experiment, to try new things. He’s very courageous.’

Ramirez stars as geologist Michael Acosta in ‘Gold’; a story based on the 1993 Bre-X mining scandal, and tells the story of a down-and-out businessman who thinks he’s struck gold – literally – in the jungles of Borneo, Indonesia. Unfortunately for him, the stars were not in his favour.
Ramirez is currently filming a comedy drama entitled ‘Love Child’ with Penelope Cruz and he has also been announced to star in late 80s set crime drama ‘Black or White, Never Gray’ and an as yet untitled project with director Jonathan Jakubowicz and star Robert De Niro. Plus, he has finished shooting a mysterious David Ayer sci-fi in which he stars opposite Will Smith and Joel Edgerton.
