Deadpool Checks In At The Super Bowl Ahead Of Friday Premiere

It’s probably one of the most refreshing new superhero films since ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, removing that cheesy overlay of a typical Marvel flick and introducing the anti-hero of all anti-heroes. And Ryan Reynolds does it utterly flawlessly.

The Super Bowl 50 saw a great many of new trailers for the year’s most exciting upcoming films, and ‘Deadpool’ was one of them. It’s set to be the most stand-out superhero movie of the year which would be quite the feat given the competition from the likes of ‘Captain America: Civil War’ and ‘Doctor Strange’.

He’s been diagnosed with cancer in all his major organs, so I guess the only thing he has left is his humour. Particularly since his charming good looks were also brutally ripped away along with large portions of his skin in a medical experiment gone wrong. In the new trailer, Deadpool tells us of his childhood ambition to become an athlete and have children all around the world (we weren’t aware that the two were synonymous but there you go), before displaying his superhuman skills of combat and, well, I suppose you would have to call it athleticism.

Watch the trailer for ‘Deadpool’ here:

He may have been in the Special Forces, but Deadpool (aka Wade Wilson) can only thank one forward thinking scientist for his abilities – only, he’s not really in a grateful mood. Bitter and driven mad by his traumatic laboratory experiences, he vows to take down the man who destroyed him and he doesn’t care who gets in the way. Though, when it comes down to it, he has serious competition in the face of Colossus, Ajex and Negasonic Teenage Warhead among others.

Ryan Reynold is bringing back Deadpool having previously appeared as the character in ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’, from which this story carries on. He’s not new to the superhero genre either, notably playing Green Lantern in the movie of the same name back in 2011.

Directed by the Academy Award nominated Tim Miller in his feature directorial debut, the movie also stars Ed Skrein (‘The Transporter Refueled’), T.J. Miller (‘Silicon Valley’) and Morena Baccarin (‘Gotham’).

‘Deadpool’ hits US theaters on Friday, February 12th 2016.
