David Duchovny wants to believe again. Gillian Anderson seems like she wants to believe again. Fox is looking into believing again. We are SO ready to believe again. In case it wasn’t clear, we’re talking about the much-discussed The X-Files reboot that is in the works at Fox.

Over the weekend, Fox bosses confirmed there has been talk about reviving The X-Files on TV, forgoing the discussed third movie for several new episodes following Mulder (Duchovny) and Scully (Anderson) with creator Chris Carter behind it. Duchovny, who will next star in NBC’s Aquarius, is ready.

Duchovny told USA Today that he’s “more than happy and excited to bring it back and do it again with Gillian and Chris.”

Fox bosses Gary Newman and Dana Walden confirmed at the 2015 TCA Winter Press Tour that they have had talks about bringing The X-Files back to life “at some point.”

“If this happens, it will be with David and Gillian reprising their roles. Chris [Carter] is interested, both David and Gillian are interested,” Newman told press after their panel. “Scheduling it is very different. David has his shows and Gillian is doing something in the UK, so it’s a little hard. I really don’t know how fast it can happen because of that. But there are ongoing conversations happening.”

The truth is still out there!

Duchovny told USA Today he assumes it will happen “sooner rather than later now” but details, such as episode number are stilly hazy.

“Certainly I can’t nor would I be interested in doing a full season. It will be in some kind of limited form. We’re all old, we don’t have the energy for a full season,” he said.

When E! News spoke with Anderson before Fox executives confirmed the news, she was hesitant to go on record about doing a reboot.

“I need to wrap my brain around what that would entail,” she said. “I live in London. I’ve got three kids, it’s not a small proposition and it would take a lot longer to shoot than a movie would. I need to think about that.”

Given the success of 24: Live Another Day and the current nostalgia trend in Hollywood, it seems like the return of The X-Files is nigh. There had been talk of a third movie following Mulder and Scully and Anderson told us to “just be patient.”

We’re ready to believe again!
