David Beckham has said he felt a little heartbreak when one of his sons told him that he wasn’t sure he wanted to play football all the time. However the former football star also added that he only wanted his children to play the game if it made them happy.
David Beckham has said one of his sons told him he doesn’t want to play football.
Speaking to ABC News Beckham said, “One of my boys turned around to me the other day, he said, ‘Daddy, you know, I’m not sure I want to play football all the time…’ “It broke my heart a little bit.”

“He said, ‘Every time that I step onto the field, I know people are saying, you know, ‘This is David Beckham’s son,’ and if I’m not as good as you, then it’s not good enough.’ I said, ‘Okay, stop right there… You play because you want to play,” the 40 year old added.
Beckham is father to three sons Brooklyn, 16, Romeo, 13, and Cruz, 10, with wife Victoria, but he did not reveal which of them made the revelation. But two of the Beckham boys have already showed footballing promise, with Romeo recently serving as a mascot for England’s qualifier against Switzerland and Brooklyn being promoted to Arsenal’s Under-18 team.
But if the Beckham boys decide not to follow in their father’s footsteps, maybe little Harper will. Earlier this month Victoria Beckham told ‘Good Morning America’ that her four year old daughter is more into football than fashion.

“She loves fashion, you know, as all little girls do… but she loves sports,” Beckham told ‘GMA’. “She said to me the other day ‘Mummy, I think I want to play football [soccer]’. Dagger through the heart! I have three boys that want to play football, you know, come on, let one of them want to be into fashion or dance.”
