Iman and David Bowie‘s romance is a story many have fallen in love with themselves, but little did we know that Christie Brinkley actually played a huge role in one of the biggest milestones the couple shared.
Posting a sweet photo of the two lovebirds holding their baby daughter Alexandria “Lexi” Zahra Jones, Brinkley recalled helping her supermodel friend conceive her child when she was facing fertility struggles following the iconic musician losing his battle to cancer.
“Iman always told the story in such a charming way,” Brinkley wrote in the caption. ” ‘It took two blondes to get me pregnant David Bowie and Christie Brinkley!’ ‘You see…’ Iman explained to me, ‘in Somalia they say if you are having trouble getting pregnant you must hold a baby all day’ so I handed her my baby, Sailor, and she held her all day long …and sure enough, it worked!”

“After 7 years trying without luck… Iman got pregnant! So beyond her great beauty and business savvy, and beyond Bowie’s music and art, I always felt a sweet connection to this stunningly gorgeous and creative couple. Today my heart aches For Iman, and Alexandria for their untimely and unbearable loss. My deepest sympathy @the_real_iman.”
A source tells E! News that the late singer’s 15-year-old daughter is “doing OK but still very sad,” following his recent death, adding that both Bowie and Iman tried to prepare their daughter with what was to come to better cope with the loss when it happened.
“The support the world has shown warms the families heart. Bowie and Iman have walked Lexi through this battle in the past few months, so she was as prepared as she could be. Lexi was there for her dad as much as possible,” the insider continued.
“Lexi has such a strong support system around her. Iman and Lexi have a very close bond. This was not a sudden shock they knew this was going to happen towards the end so they cherished and made the best of each day they had together. His kids were by his side until the end of his road. He died peacefully and fought as long as he could.”
The source tells us, “As a dad, Bowie was very hands-on with Lexi through her young years and he did the regular things a dad would do when he wasn’t on tour or working. He was a big influence in Lexi’s life. He was always very open and honest about his thoughts and views on life,” and concludes that, “Lexi and Bowie had a loving farther and daughter relationship.”
