While many have speculated that an Apple iCloud hack is to blame for the massive outpouring of naked celebrity pictures over the weekend, the Federal Bureau of Investigation is looking into the possibility that phishing is to blame.
According to TMZ, Jennifer Lawrence, Victoria Justice, Kate Upton, Lea Michele and may other stars may have unknowingly shared their personal info with a hacker, leading to the security breach.
An insider explained, “FBI investigators are looking into whether Kate and at least 3 other celebs were prime targets of phishing.”
“The FBI is aware of the allegations concerning computer intrusions and the unlawful release of material involving high profile individuals and is addressing the matter,” the Bureau previously stated.
