He touched so many people during his long and successful career and sadly Rik Mayall has passed away at his home in London.
The “Young Ones” star’s demise is not thought to be suspicious, according to a Scotland Yard spokesperson, and many celebrities have come out to share kind words via Twitter.
“Little Britain” star David Walliams tweeted, “I am heartbroken that my comedy idol growing up Rik Mayall has died. He made me want to be a comedian.”
In like manner, Rory Bremmer shared, “Oh no. Awful news about Rik Mayall – a fireball of creative comic energy and inspiration. Such brilliant raw talent.”
And Monty Python’s Eric Idle wrote, “Very sad to hear of the passing of Rik Mayall. Far too young. A very funny and talented man.”
Mayall is survived by his wife Barbara and children Rosie, Sid and Bonnie.
