Hollywood’s had quite the British invasion lately, but with Oscar nominees like these, we can’t say we mind!
Eddie Redmayne, Rosamund Pike and Keira Knighley were all woken up Thursday morning by someone telling them about their Academy Award nominations. Later that day, they each spoke about it with E! News’ Catt Sadler at the Critics’ Choice Awards—each doing so with that trademark, self-effacing English charm!
Eddie, whose performance in The Theory of Everything has already earned him a Golden Globe, expressed his gratitude for the recognition. He was also quick to point out, too, that unlike him, wife Hannah Baghshawe has “a proper job”! And while Mrs. Redmayne couldn’t join her handsome hubby for his stateside celebrations (her office is in London), she was “ecstatic” for him, Eddie gushed, “just really, really excited!”
2015 Critics’ Choice Awards
Like her fellow Brit, Gone Girl‘s Rosamund Pike was humble when it came to her acting nod. Because while her performance as Amy Dunne has received rave critical reviews, she’s the first to admit this hasn’t always been the case. In fact, she told E! News about an instance earlier in her career where a photo of her with her former co-stars was in a newspaper with the caption “Who Let the Dogs Out?”
She decided, after that, that reading your own reviews isn’t always a good idea! The mother of two also noted that as exciting as all of this acknowledgment might be, it hasn’t exactly consumed her life. “If you’re breastfeeding a 6-week-old baby and running after a 2-year-old, you’re just in mom zone,” she said with a laugh.

Keira Knightley, a mom-to-be, isn’t letting the hype go to her head. The pregnant Imitation Game spoke about her struggle to find the right dress, saying. “I mean nothing fits, so there’s that! But apart from that I have a very lovely stylist who is also a very lovely friend and also has a 3-month-old baby, so she understands.”
She’s also discovered a downside to the whole being pregnant during awards season thing. For the big show itself, she’s going to be “horrifically sober,” she quipped, “like horrifically!”
