The Glee star and her husband Ryan Dorsey welcomed little Josey in September, 2015, and Naya is overwhelmed by the special mother-baby bond they share.
“The love I get from him (is so rewarding),” she tells Mini Magazine. “Little things like the two kisses he stood up and gave me last night to say thank you for making him mac and cheese from scratch. It’s a love never found anywhere or with anyone else.”
And even though he’s only 13-months-old, Naya admits she worries about the day Josey won’t want to hang out with her anymore.
She cringes, “I’m going to cry so hard when the day comes that he doesn’t want to hold my hand because it’s not ‘cool.'”
Meanwhile, Naya is making it a priority to ensure her son grows up to be a good person.
“I hope to instill good morals and values in him,” she says. “I want to teach him to be confident but kind, strong but not proud, and to always be in love with life.”
And although becoming a mum has left her struggling to find time for herself, the actress is gradually learning to juggle all of her responsibilities: “Taking the time to not worry about your house or to-do lists or the baby is hard, but necessary.”
Naya recently added author to her resume with her autobiography Sorry Not Sorry: Dreams, Mistakes, and Growing Up, and one day, she hopes Josey will pick up a lesson or two from the experiences of her youth.
She adds, “I hope he would take away that growing up has its challenges, but behind every cloud is a silver lining.”
