Are two of ABC’s biggest dramas coming to an end?
At the 2016 Winter TCA Press Tour on Sunday, the network’s president Paul Lee sounded off on the uncertain futures of Nashville and Castle. And fans of each series will be happy to hear what he had to say.
While Nashville’s ratings aren’t massive, Lee noted that the soap sees a big boost in delayed viewership. “We don’t have any plans to finish Nashville,” he said.
Phew. Of course, a final decision will actually be made in May, Lee stressed.

Still, Lee added the network has “no plans for Nashville other than to keep it going.” (In case you missed the good news: Star Hayden Panettiere is set to return to Nashville in April after taking a medical leave in October in order to seek treatment for postpartum depression.)
But what about one of the network’s other longrunning dramas, Castle? The series’ two main stars Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic are currently in contract negotiations and there’s a possibility that one or both of them may not return should the show be picked up.
“We’d love for Castle to keep going for many years to come,” Lee said, but noted that it could see some major changes if it does continue. “There are a lot of conversations about how we can do that…there’s lots of good ideas in there. So I am feeling optimistic that we have a lot of good ideas.”
