Filming on the second season of the WGN America/Sony TV drama series Underground has been shut down for Thursday and Friday. Oct. 6 and 7, as a precaution because of weather concerns. WGN’s breakout series is filming in the Savannah, Georgia, area that may be impacted by Hurricane Matthew, which is expected to make a landfall in Florida Thursday night and is projected to batter the eastern parts of Florida, George, South Carolina and North Carolina through Saturday night.
Filming on Underground was completed as planned today, Wednesday, with shooting scheduled to resume on Monday, Oct. 10. Coincidentally, the first season of the series, about the famous underground railroad network that helped smuggle slaves from the South to freedom, was shot in another city that gets hit by tropical storms, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Production moved to Georgia at the start of Season 2.
Series co-creator Joe Pokaski, stars Aldis Hodge and Amirah Vann, executive producer Mike Jackson and others are set to appear at the New York Comic-Con on October 9.
