Let’s walk and talk, shall we? If you’re in the Buckeye State this weekend, there’s a chance you might see such a phenomenon as six cast members from the 2000s White House drama The West Wing are hitting Ohio to campaign for Hillary Clinton.
The Democratic nominee’s camp said today that Allison Janney, Bradley Whitford, Richard Schiff, Dulé Hill, Joshua Malina and Mary McCormack will be hitting events Saturday and Sunday in cities including Cleveland, Toledo, Dayton, and Columbus. The plan is to urge Ohioans to register to vote on November 8.
The show detailed the inner workings and broad influence of a number of White House staffers of a Democratic president (Martin Sheen) who deal with crises ranging from international incidents to office romances. Janney won four Emmys for playing Press Secretary C.J. Cregg on the Aaron Sorkin-created series, which scored four consecutive Emmys for Outstanding Drama Series from 2000-03. Whitford starred as John Lyman, who was Deputy Chief of Staff under Bartler and later Chief of Staff for his successor. Schiff won an Emmy as Communications Director Toby Ziegler. Hill was presidential body man Charlie Young, Malina was freelancer-turned-Deputy Comms Director Will Bailey, and McCormick was intelligence analyst Kate Harper.
