When it comes to fatherhood, Louis Tomlinson is a total natural.
The One Direction singer welcomed his newborn son Freddie Reignwith ex Briana Jungwirth in early 2016, and ever since then he can’t help but share an unconditional love for his mini-me. Despite the initial “surprise” that news of the pregnancy brought, the 24-year-old has welcomed all the highs and lows of being a first-time dad with open arms.
Thanks to his Instagram, Louis hasn’t been shy when it comes to sharing a few must-see, precious moments between father and son, but it’s his many sound bites on raising a child that really sets our hearts fluttering.
On being a young father:
“I didn’t think I’d be having a kid at this age, but it is incredible,” Louis unsuspectingly gushed to America’s Got Talent judge Mel B during a recent appearance on the talent competition.
On having to be separated from his son:
“I’m still getting used to it. It’s my first time away from him so I miss him, obviously, but it’s cool. I do get Father’s Day now,” Tomlinson admitted to Capital FM shortly after the Brit Awards in the month following his little guy’s birth. He echoed to ITV2 during the award show’s red carpet, “Fatherhood] is good. It’s intense. It’s really exciting.”
On celebrating his inaugural Father’s Day:
“Happy Father’s Day to every lucky lad out there who’s someone’s daddy! Thoroughly enjoyed my first 🙂 Love you Freddie son X,” the proud papa wrote alongside an absolutely adorable photo of the pair holding hands.
On the um, messier, aspects of parenthood:
“Have I changed a nappy? I’d actually probably changed about a hundred nappies before Freddie because I used to help out with my sister so I have changed his nappy, thank you!” Tomlinson confidently dished to Capital FM.
On meeting Freddie for the first time:
“I’m pleased to say my baby son was born yesterday :),” he announced on Twitter. “He is healthy and pretty amazing 🙂 I’m very happy!!”
On protecting Freddie from media scrutiny:
“The persistent and increasing levels of paparazzi and media intrusions into Freddie’s life of late are not only posing potential security issues but are also crucially invading the privacy to which Freddie is undoubtedly entitled as a child,” a statement released by Tomlinson’s spokesperson read earlier this month. “The levels of paparazzi attention on Freddie are intolerable and completely unjustifiable.”
On his son’s first word:
“It’s a tough question because the immaturity is just pushing through there,” Louis first joked to Capital FM in a February interview, and then said, “but ‘dad’!”
On bonding with Freddie while 1D is on hiatus:
“It’s great. It’s really nice to not have something to do every single day. Obviously being a dad is incredible. But yeah, little lad’s lovely,” he told Entertainment Updates.
It’s clear Louis has taken to fatherhood like a total pro. He’ll definitely be the first to give the next One Direction hunk to settle down major lessons on diaper duty!
