Tyrese Gibson has been granted a monitored visit with his daughter.
The ‘Fast and Furious’ star is locked in a court battle with his ex-wife Norma, who is seeking to obtain a permanent restraining order against him, but the judge overseeing the dispute has ordered the 38-year-old star be allowed a six-hour meeting with 10-year-old Shayla on Sunday (29.10.17), so long as there is a court-appointed monitor present, TMZ reports.
The visit will be the first time in two months Tyrese has seen his daughter.
Norma’s bid to obtain a permanent restraining order will continue and the court has blocked off all of next week to hear testimony in the case.
Tyrese – who was married to Norma from 2007 to 2009 – has filed documents to have the restraining order application thrown out and he has filed documents in which he claimed he believes Shayla had been coached into telling a story while under her mother’s care.
Norma has claimed the singer-and-actor had pushed Shayla to the ground and beat her in a rage, so should be kept away from them both, but he insists that is not the case and his former spouse is just bitter because of his marriage to social worker Samantha Lee Gibson, which took place earlier this year.
The ‘Transformers’ star insisted in his paperwork that the only recent domestic violence incident involving them was when Norma texted him saying she wanted to have his fingers cut off, something which she previously admitted in a court declaration.
His lawyer has also claimed there are no grounds to file for a domestic violence restraining order because they are only valid if the allegations are made by the person seeking protection.
The 38-year-old actor claims Norma has tried to use alleged evidence of past abusive behaviour to justify why she needs custody of the youngster and a permanent restraining order.
And the paperwork also suggests Norma has only claimed he abused their daughter because she’s looking for sole custody of her.
