Andy Murray is a refined Scottish man. His fiancé, Kim Sears, is a refined British woman. But it turns out, all it takes to wipe away that English pomp and circumstance is a tense tennis match.
Murray is across the pond (make that across two ponds) right now for the Australian Open and he made it all the way to yesterday’s semi-final. The game, against Czech player Tomas Berdych, got a little heated, and it sent Sears on an emotional roller coaster in the stands.

Since this is 2015, her reaction was caught on camera—most notably, a profanity-ridden tirade. Deciphering the episode requires a bit of lip-reading, but it doesn’t take an expert to recognize the F-bombs she’s throwing out. Our best guess is (and pardon our French), “F–king have that you Czech f–king f–k.” The woman’s a poet.
Naturally, the whole thing went viral, and fans were eating her f–ks up.
The best part of all this is how Sears still seems so darn charming and fancy. Leave it to the Brits to be the only people who can swear like a sailor and still be a class act.
But of course, since nothing can happen in sports without a controversy, there was an audible backlash to her show of admittedly poor sportsmanship. Murray came to her defense, telling the BBC, “In the heat of the moment, you can say stuff that you regret.” Well, sounds about right.
In the end, Murray came out with a win that will send him to his eighth Grand Slam final. Who’s laughing now?
